Advocacy in the legislative arena is critical so we are following and learning more each year, while inviting conversations with organizations, advocates and leaders involved in improving policy to better protect our citizens.
Policy issues we are following and discussing include, but are not limited to, child advocacy specific to child abuse, child trafficking, and the handling of cases in family court and in juvenile court. We are encouraging changes to improve protections for parents and families striving to maintain stability and safety for children, including maintaining homes and health.
The support of veterans and military families is a topic we will raise frequently as their needs are also great, and systems in place quite often fall short of meeting needs.
Some of the failures and shortfalls brought to our attention involve professional or staff misconduct, so we expect in the coming sessions to hear more about transparency and accountability.
The public often hears about or cries out about what certain professionals, including law enforcement, are doing wrong, but it is less common to hear about ethical and hard-working professionals and staff who are getting things right and serving us well. So as we focus on problems vs. solutions, we will also spotlight the kind of advocacy and service that is making a difference in our communities.
Please use our contact form if you would like to discuss a policy topic or recommend someone to be interviewed for the above purpose.
