We celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July each year, but as a friend reminded me earlier it is not the date we honor but the many sacrifices, the grueling work and tremendous fortitude and intellect it took to create our independence from Great Britain.
I can always count on my local hero Stephen to be an advocate for history – challenging our memories, calling to us to remember how we became so privileged. A civilian who will always be a soldier, he urges us to develop a stronger understanding and appreciation for what it means to be an American and to be free. When he writes, I always know it will be time well spent reading his posts. Thank you, Stephen!
What we do now with our independence matters to our children.
Do we want them to remain free and unencumbered? Of course we do, but there is more work to be done!
Freedom and civil rights can easily be lost, just as peace of mind and health can go if we don’t guard them. We act to protect identity, bank accounts, retirement funds, reputation and jobs; so should we watch over what we cherish in our freedoms and what we want for our children.
Pro Advocate Radio invites you to use your voice to engage our leadership and those around you to protect our independence, and to ensure it remains shored up for all generations to come.
